Congratulations on seeing this accomplished poem in publication!

I left a comment on the site.

You have, btw, a most lovely reading voice.

thankyou very much for your lovely comments! it's always a bit embarrassing hearing your own voice and its seems to me that Americans in general are naturally very good at reading their own work!

Beautiful poem and reading. I like slow pace of your rendition. It always interests me whether poets pause at the line breaks in their readings, and you seem not to in this one at least. What are your thoughts on that?

there is something magical about this poem when you read it... the rhythms, the dreamy quality of your voice... thank you so much. and I love it when you pronounce "Loch" :-) such an ancient feeling...

thanks andrew! I actually found I had to remove the line breaks when reading this poem and read it as a large paragraph in order to read more naturally.

I wouldn't normally do this but I think it was because the editors accepted it with a couple of amendments which, though I was happy to go along with them, threw my reading of the poem a little.

I spent a lot of time listening to readings on the poetry library webpage and found that Edwin Morgan does generally pause at line breaks and Kathleen Jamie generally doesn't. I think mostly I would pause at line breaks but I like the added surprise of reading a Jamie poem pausing at line breaks and then hearing her read the poem with different emphases' adding a new dimension to my reading of the poem.
