I've been walking around all day today feeling pretty pleased with myself as the latest Poetry Scotland, which had been overdue, finally came in today with my two poems in it - what a nice feeling! Then tonight I get an email to say I've had a poem (When I Became a Wave) accepted for the poetry webzine Snakeskin which you'll find here! I don't think I'll sleep tonight!

I'm so glad for you! Congratulations! I went to the Snakeskin site to read your poem when I realized I didn't know which one was you :-) and then finding swiss' comment here made me laugh, it's nothing like a good laugh in the morning :-)

Fantastic!

It's such a great feeling when your poems come back a little lighter in the envelope/email, isn't it? And that doesn't change when having work accepted becomes a regular thing. You'll still be getting a buzz from it in years to come.

Many apologies, btw, for that dreadful scuffle over on the Guardian book blogs last week. I was extremely grateful to you for stepping up like that on my behalf, and also extremely embarrassed that they subsequently turned on you as well.

Just recovering here, now the damn thread's been closed and things are getting back to normal. But what a rollercoaster!

Congratulations on the acceptances. From what I've read of your work, I'm sure many more are in store. And Jane Holland is right---it never gets old.

Thanks guys, I really appreciate your encouragement, it means a lot to me.

Jane, no worries, I've been on enough amateur online poetry forums to see all that crap before. Just surprised to see it on an apparent literary forum and think it was dreadful that the moderators allowed it to happen.

You're welcome. It was Colin Will who spotted mine at New Year and if he hadn't told me I might have missed it! It's a great feeling to be published out in the big wide world. Congratulations.
See...now you can quite comfortably host your own poetry event..being Marion of the Herald and all!

I'm presuming you've not been in it before (the Herald) but maybe you have...still, whatever...it's great.

i'm so excited!! I was published in it before when I won a poetry competition but this is different, the fact she actually chose my poem!!

Someone hold her down; she's going to float away!

thank you! actually I was searching in the wrong place, the april issue, I don't know why I went directly to that one :-) otherwise I would have spotted the title. "Tonight I have no need for dresses or umbrellas.
I am clothed in ash-grey" is fabulous!
