Philip Gross. Heard of him? He's just won the T.S. Eliot Prize, how shameful of me, never read any of his work!

Look at you - newshound!
I don't know his work either but there is a lot of poetry about and it's impossible to keep up with all of it (well, for most of us).

I was hoping for George Szirtes myself.

I haven't read The Water Table, but based on the description of it in this news story, it is interesting that this book wins the Eliot just two or three years after Sean O'Brien got it for The Drowned Book, also poems drenched in water.

aye, that's me, Rachel lol!
his name rings a bell but that's about it!!!

I'm quite fond of the formal work Szirtes does, another book I've yet to buy! james, that was my thoughts also and although The Drowned Book got a bit of a bad press in some corners I really like the collection.

I read "The Wasting Game" a long, long time ago and liked it. Hope that's the same Phillip Gross...
