Okay, time to come clean! Constant tiredness and permanent nausea is the enemy of writing and whoever called it 'morning sickness' was having a laugh, it ought to be called 'all-day-every-day sickness'. Yes, I'm pregnant. Had my first scan today and everything is as it should be so I thought it was time to tell the world.

Hoping as I head into my fourth month of pregnancy the nausea will wear off and I'll get back to writing. Here's a small poem offering, it's not much but it's all I've got for the moment -

Heliotropism

Waves rise from nowhere
like the water pearl

My wife also pointed out that it's "all-day sickness"! Stay healthy and relaxed, and good luck to you.

Congratulations! And best wishes! I hope the all-day sickness will go away before long.

A lovely poem. I think you have perfectly captured this moment of consciousness...

Sounds a lot like what I've got. Maybe that's what's up with me. I feel like I've got waves inside me too.

Dead pleased for you.

hi rachel, you didn't suspect because you can't see me, let's just say it's been difficult to keep it hidden since the two month mark!! cheers

WOW!!!!congratulations!!!! :-) I am so excited about the news that I will have to come back later for the poem :-)
would you like a boy or a girl now? :-))))

thanks colin, apart the nausea I'm absolutely fine and excited about going to StAnza - not long now!

thankyou roxana, that's very sweet of you :) well at first I wanted another boy just because I've already got a boy and girls are the great unknown plus practically - got millions of boy's clothes etc. But my niece recently had a baby girl and she is absolutely adorable so now I'm thinking it would be nice to have a girl after all, although maybe slightly scarier! Really, I guess I'd be delighted either way, the biggest problem at the moment is coming up with another boy's name that we both like!

Boys ran in our family - I had 2 brothers, I have two sone, one of my brothers has 3 sons etc. So it's lovely that I now have 2 grand-daughters (plus a grandson).

What do you mean it's not much? It's beautiful! It certainly does it for me. all-day-every-day-sickness is obviously a very effective muse. Cash in while ye may.

Marion McCready said...

aah with all those boys in the family I bet you spoil your grand-daughters :)

thanks dave, I'm very glad you like it, the nausea is definitely not an effective muse though!!
